There was a goat
Defenseless in the grassy field
An easy target with no shield
To monsters all the people yield
Fandalyn had been known for years to the people of these lands
To be far from any king, they were in the wild's hands
And the people just accepted that there was no other way
Till a group delivered dwarven goods and this is what they had to say
We're gonna dig a moat
A gap to end the suffering
A gift would be fit for a king
A cause will all these people bring
Bring them to the moat
A hub for the community
A bridge to set the world free
It's good for our motality
The heroes left to help more people who were down
They returned their smiles turned to frowns
The moat tools, they were laying on the ground
The guys they hired, they just could not be found
So the heroes went to find the men they paid to dig the moat
And when they turned out to be ruffians then history was wrote
So they found the men who all wore the red and terrorized the town
They found the hideout, made them pay took the whole hierarchy down
Then their passion was renewed and they got some extra funding too
The people there must have also knew
It's the moat it's the way it's the dream it's the truth
The whole town started singing

A feat for every common man
A welcome guiding steady hand
Don't doubt us for a second we got a plan
A plan to dig a moat
A moat that the gods will see and say
Those mortals there are pretty great
Our farms the moat will irrigate
And with the moat at last complete
Our heroes used the land they took from criminals to make a place to eat
And they named it The Moat, it's by the water you know and they have a tavern too
And a franchise off in Waterdeep they call it The Moat two
And they say when the space elves attacked the the tendrils came from the earth
The moat held strong and saved the people, quickly proved it's worth
Without the moat who knows what would have happened there that day
The defenseless town without a doubt would be entirely swept away
But it wasn't cause the moat
A guiding beacon, holy light
A force of nature, Gaia knight
A sign of every mortals might
Going to the moat
To drink and talk and celebrate
And hide, survive, and lie in wait
For our heroes to return from space
